They have played an important role in developing Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is FDK-AAC?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is an open-source library used to create software AAC encoders and decoders. ODR-mmbTools uses this library for the AAC encoder (AudioEnc).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure it is loaded into memory when compiling the ODR-mmbTools AudioEnc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The library resides on GitHub under the name &#8220;<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Opendigitalradio\/fdk-aac\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fdk-aac<\/a><\/em><\/strong>&#8221; but will be installed anyway when installing the &#8220;<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/localdab.org\/index.php\/dab-how-to-start\/odr-part-2\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1295\">ODR-AudioEnc<\/a><\/em><\/strong>&#8221; module. It accepts PCM and WAV audio input streams and codes them into <strong>AAC LC <\/strong>(default), <strong>HE-AAC v1<\/strong> (SBR), <strong>HE-AAC v2<\/strong> (SBR+PS), AAC-LD, and AAC ELD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For us interested in realizing a DAB+ radio transmitter with ODR-mmbTools <strong>AudioEnc<\/strong>, the following AAC types will be important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>AAC LC<\/strong>       (for high bitrates)<\/li><li><strong>HE-AAC v1<\/strong> (+SBR for standard bitrates)<\/li><li><strong>HE-AAC v2<\/strong> (+SBR +PS for low bitrates)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/localdab.org\/index.php\/glossary\/\">Back<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is Fraunhofer?
